— Dan Nachtrab "The words, a mic and illumination. That’s all I desire to escape into another world…and bring you with me." — Dan Nachtrab "Narration requires preparation; a guide must know the way, what to highlight and stay on schedule." — Dan Nachtrab "I strive for authenticity. It’s the imperfections of life that create character and beloved stories."

The Short

Dan Nachtrab is an Emmy Award-winning documentary narrator and voice over artist with more than 30 years behind a microphone and more than 750 documentaries and TV shows as a narrator. His voiceover career began in 1995, recording local car commercials in Dayton, Ohio. One job led to another, and over the years that local work grew into a national career spanning documentary narration, television, commercials and film.

Dan has narrated projects for National Geographic, Discovery, PBS, History and Disney+, covering everything from sharks and science to history, true crime and adventure. Along the way came an Emmy for Memphis Belle: Her Final Mission.

But after all these years, the work still comes back to the same thing: telling a good story. Dan believes the best documentary narration doesn't call attention to itself. It supports the story, connects with the audience and knows when to get out of the way.  Whether narrating a documentary, television series or in-show segment, the goal is the same: serve the story.

The Long

Ohio born and raised, Dan pursued his passion for acting, improv and music throughout high school and into his first career as an on-air personality and production wizard at WTUE-FM in Dayton, Ohio. Praised by critics for his antics, "Dan-O" spent a decade with the legendary rock station until his true calling came to light as a voiceover actor. Starting locally, he soon exploded onto the national stage after a move to Portland, Oregon. Not only was the Pacific Northwest conducive to his career, it appears the ocean, mountains, rain forest, wine country, gourmet coffee and the world's largest independent bookstore has provided an amazing environment to raise two incredible kids alongside his talented, vivacious and brilliant wife, Niki.
